Having Fun

Having Fun

I had a real fun day yesterday.

My day started with the delivery of the New Light UT/ILP Investment Sales Master Class at the Robinson Road office of my client, Summit Planners. In his opening remarks, Director Jason Lim stated his team’s aim of generating a 4-5% return for clients. Jason also stated that the role of the financial advisor was not to be a portfolio manager. It is this commonality of understanding which makes the delivery of the Master Class a delight.

The second session of the day was at the headquarters of Manulife Financial Advisors. In the packed conference room, advisors from ADR group discussed the benefits of long-term investing. Advisors saw that every one-year total return from the Straits Times Index which was negative, would become positive if held for 10-years. The energy and enthusiasm of advisors when they realised that time heals all wounds was infectious.

The third act of the day was on Zoom. Forty advisors from Manulife Financial Advisors and Manulife Advisory Group realised that when it comes to investing, they actually have a crystal ball. While this crystal ball doesn’t tell them when markets will move up or down it does show them that the chances of making profits increase with the investment horizon. We will meet these advisors in real life as the rest of their modules will be delivered in-person.

And we will obviously have more fun
