Dating is like Savings, Investing is like Marriage

Dating is like Savings, Investing is like Marriage

This brilliant analogy is not my creation. It was first told to me by Chermaine Lim, a financial advisor representing Prudential Assurance Company Singapore Pte Ltd.

Saving in a bank is like dating. If you want to take out or put in more money no one will say anything. If you go on a few dates and say he is not the ‘one’ that is also ok. So carefree, swipe left, swipe right.

Investing on the other hand, is like a marriage. Investing comes with the client’s willingness to commit, to pull through the ups and downs. To do it for the long run, not just for good times. Sometimes the going will get tough and you’ll need to put in more effort than before. That’s what a marriage is about, and the same principle applies to investing.
